A vacuole is a organelle which is present in all plant and animal cell. Vacuoles are essentially enclosed compartments which are filled with water containing inorganic and organic molecules including enzymes, sugar, water, and proteins.
Function?
The vacuole isolates substances that might be harmful to the cell and maintains an acidic internal pH. It also helps maintain turgor pressure within the cell as well as exports unwanted substances from a cell.
Structure: Has no basic shape or size.
Importance: A vacuole plays as digestion system and it releases cellular waste products. And when a plant is well-watered, water collects in cell vacuoles producing rigidity in the plant. Without sufficient water, pressure in the vacuole is reduced and the plant wilts. Vacuoles are also responsible for maintaining the shape and structure of the cell. The vacuole is also used to store nutrients, metabolites, and waste products.
Survival For Mankind:
Without the vacuole all food would not exist and there would be no cells at all. The vacuole acts as a pump to remove and excess water without this the cell would burst from to much excess water. So everyone would be dead. And all the proteins and etc. in the cell couldn't be stored at all. It is just like if you had phone with no battery.
