Definition: The Chloroplast is the food producer of the plant cell. The main role is to conduct photosynthesis and keep the plant alive so that it can produce its oxygen. The chloroplast (in green plant cells) is a plastid that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place.
Function: The chloroplast uses photosynthesis to produce the food and take in the sunlight's energy to produce sugars. The plants also produce oxygen which is very important to all living things. The oxygen then keeps animals and humans alive, therefor without this tiny bean-like structure in our plants, the whole world would have to find a way to survive without oxygen.
Structure: The structure of the chloroplast is an oval shape with two layers surrounding the inside keeping its inside safer from any harm. The surrounding walls in the chloroplast are the outer membrane and the inner membrane.
